چکیده

Background/Introduction Coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) remains an index procedure in cardiac surgery. Despite the increasing use of arterial conduits, the great saphenous vein remains the most widely used conduit due to its ease of harvest, availability and versatility. Traditional open harvesting technique (OVH) is associated with significant wound related morbidity and therefore an endoscopic minimally invasive harvesting technique is increasingly employed. In our institution, endoscopic vein harvest (EVH) is now performed as a routine and here we report our mid-term results.

Endoscopic vein harvest of the lesser saphenous vein in the supine position: a unique approach to an old problem.

OBJECTIVES To obtain a suitable conduit from the lesser (short) saphenous system for use in coronary artery bypass surgery. We wanted to perform this while the patient was in the supine position as to not disrupt the standard operation, and at the same time, utilizing the endoscopic vein harvest technique with its obvious abilities to decrease vein harvest morbidity. We also theorized that thro...

Division of the brachioradialis muscle: a modification of the current technique in endoscopic radial artery harvesting.

BACKGROUND Utilization of the radial artery as a conduit for coronary artery bypass grafting has increased significantly over the past 8 years. Concurrently, minimally invasive surgical techniques have been increasingly applied resulting in improved aesthetics, less pain, and decreased morbidity and length of hospital stay. Endoscopic radial artery harvesting (ERAH) has been shown to be of bene...

Neurological Study of Radial Nerve Conduction During Endoscopic Radial Artery Harvesting:An Intra‐Operative Evaluation

Endoscopic radial artery harvesting (ERAH) is a feasible and attractive minimally invasive approach for conduit procurement, however there have been concerns about a potential neurological damage occurring at the harvest limb site secondary to injury of the radial nerve during endoscopic harvesting. We present a case of ERAH in which we evaluated intraoperatively the characteristics of radial n...

Conduits for Coronary Bypass: Arteries Other Than the Internal Thoracic Artery's

This is the third in a series on coronary artery bypass which reviews three alternative arterial conduits. The radial artery has become the most widely used of the three and accumulating experience demonstrates better patency at 10 years versus saphenous vein. Drawbacks are a long incision on the forearm, the propensity for spasm and persistent sensory disturbance in about 10%. The first is ans...

Harvesting the radial artery.

The radial artery (RA) has emerged as an important arterial graft for coronary bypass surgery. With improving five-year patency rates and increasing uptake, great attention has been focused on the optimal conduit harvesting technique. We herein present our approach to RA harvesting. Prerequisites of a successful harvest include adherence to important anatomical landmarks, protection of the sens...
